The Staghorn Fern is epiphytic, which means they grow on other plants or trees in their natural environment. You can have them mounted on a wood plaque, or hung in a hanging basket.
As their fronds mature, they look similar to deer antlers.
They like bright, indirect natural light, but not direct sunlight and this is too harsh for their fronds. Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry.
An interesting thing to note is that staghorn ferns do not grow to maturity in soil. They need to be mounted on a wood plaque in order to grow to their fullest potential!
They are also non toxic to both cats and dogs, so this is a pet friendly plant!
