The Monstera deliciosa is commonly known as the split-leaf philodendron or Swiss cheese plant because of the unique ridges and holes, known as fenestrations, that develop on its mature leaves. It is a striking and sought-after tropical species appreciated for its large, glossy, and uniquely perforated leaves.
It’s easy to grow and care for, and it can thrive in bright to medium indirect light. You can prune it to control its lankiness and train its growth.
Care Tips:
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal, but avoid direct sunlight.
Water: Water when the top the soil is almost completely dry. They like humidity, so a bright bathroom is ideal. Mist leaves occasionally and keep them free of dust.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix. You can mix in ingredients such as perlite or lava rocks to increase soil aeration.
Mildly toxic to humans, cats, dogs, rabbits, and other small pets.
